A Thin, Dark Line - Emma Elliot

A Thin, Dark Line is the debut novel written by Emma Elliot… and let me tell you, this completely passed all expectations I had. My interests peaked when I read the summary and I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this. I am so incredibly glad I picked up this book!

When I read, I generally read because I want to swoon. And I did swoon. Cormac is very reserved, quiet, mysterious, the type of person to mostly only smile faintly. He is an extremely closed off person, I felt like we didn’t really get to know him. But I think that’s the point, since it was mentioned more than once by Eloise that she really didn’t know him all that well either yet she loved him nonetheless. Exactly like I loved him. A lot of this is because he has been in prison for the last fifteen years for homicide.

Aside from all this, he cares so much, especially about Eloise. Though this is told in Eloise’s perspective, you can feel as you read his growing attachment to her by the way he responds to her. It was such a heartwarming thing to read. He’s actually very shy which I found adorable. He’s a man of few words, but when he speaks, I could melt in a pile of goo on the basis of alone of some of the stuff he says to Eloise.

I enjoyed Eloise as a heroine. She’s the town’s librarian. She’s sweet, funny, and compassionate, she doesn’t hesitate to stick up for what she believes in and she likes to give some people a hard time which I found hilarious. You can see all of this through the way she didn’t hesitate to give Cormac, an ex criminal, a chance and doesn’t hold his past against him like the rest of the town does.

It was sweet how much she defended him to many of the townspeople. This book isn’t steamy but the scenes between Cormac and Eloise, whether they were fighting or kissing or even merely talking, are so electric and addictive. I didn’t want to stop reading about these two.

Now normally I read novels because I want romance and I want to swoon. Not only did this book have those elements… but the plot was amazing! I was hooked from the beginning all the way to the end. That doesn’t happen very often to me because usually I read mainly for the interactions between the hero and heroine. And just to prove to you how much I loved this book, there were hot kisses in this but there wasn’t any sex yet I could not put this book down. 

This novel had it all. I laughed, I swooned, I cried, I was shocked. I was stunned actually because usually I can guess quite early who is the killer but it wasn’t until it was revealed in the novel that I found out. It wasn’t predictable which is another reason why I loved it. 

I’m not going to lie, there were a few parts that were very difficult for me to read and I felt extremely nauseated. Those who have read the book and those who will eventually read this book will know exactly what parts I’m talking about. Yet, I see it this way… if this author can bring out that many emotions within me with just her words, then I declare Emma Elliot a winner.

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man #4) - Kristen Ashley

Motorcycle Man was the fourth and final book on the Dream Man series. Words cannot express what I am feeling right now. This book is one hell of a roller coaster. My gosh. I don’t whether to cry, to jump up and down, to laugh… my heart is beating, my stomach is fluttering. I’m swooning like crazy. LIKE CRAZY!

Tyra, or Red as Tack likes to call her, was a great heroine. I could totally sympathise with her throughout this entire book. I mean, Tack didn’t make it easy on her, starting a relationship with him, in a world very foreign to the one she’s always lived in. He confused her, annoyed her, angered her, pissed her off so badly, was an incredible jerk to her… but despite all that, it’s a part of his character and he sure as hell redeemed himself big time.

Tack is… words cannot adequately describe his character. He is laid back, he is who he is, he knows exactly who he is and he doesn’t change for anyone. He can be a jerk, a huge pain in the ass to the point where you don’t know whether to kick him or kiss him, but you love him regardless. He’s so damn sweet, that man has a way with words. He keeps it real. He is fiercely protective. He is everything an alpha male is supposed to be – protective, possessive, bossy, controlling, yet sweet, tender, so wonderful you want to cry. Did I mention he is buff, has tatts, rides a motorcycle? I’m swooning once again.

I laughed in this novel. I cried to the point where my chest was so heavy because of the despair Tack felt at the hospital. For those of you that have read this, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. I swooned. I swooned so hard, I nearly pulled a muscle. If you were to ask me how you manage to pull a muscle by swooning, I couldn’t tell you.

My favourite part… there were way too many. I loved it so much when Tyra went ballistic at that 23 year old loser and taught him a lesson herself. I was so damn proud! And Tack’s ‘hand on throat to feel a pulse’ touch was…. No words. I melted into a pile of goo and wanted to cry at the sheer beautifulness of it. But I thought KA was absolutely, positively, freaking GENIUS with the point of view change between the four heroes and heroines of the Dream Man series. I nearly burst out of my chair with excitement when I read these parts.

KA… fucking fantastic, girl. Fucking. Fantastic.

(On a side note, I cannot wait for the Chaos series. So excited!)

Law Man (Dream Man #3) - Kristen Ashley

Law Man is the third book in the Dream Man series. I really did love this however I did have a few issues which include the numbering system Mara had, I wanted to bang my head against the wall every time she keep scaling people around her, including herself, and the fact that even though she didn't know the full extent of how the Billy and Billie were living, she still knew her cousin Bill was a deadbeat criminal who obviously didn't look after his children so why didn't she take action earlier? She could have taken the kids ages ago or at the very least called Child Protective Services and reported him.

Aside from that which got on my nerves, I really did enjoy reading this. Mara's insecurity made it difficult to read in the beginning because you just wanted to shake it out of her which once Mitch managed to do, she really did become a great heroine to read. I'm stewing Mitch's words to describe her... She's sweet, shy, smart, quiet, loyal and humorous. When we meet her in the beginning, she has a massive crush on Mitch and is totally in love with him without even really knowing him but because it's like a teenage crush, you feel so proud of her as a reader as you read about how she got her crush.

Now Mitch is the detective that played quite a large roll in Mystery Man and had a cameo in the end of Wild Man. He's so cool, calm and collected, and extremely sexy. He's a man who knows what he wants and goes for it, no bullshit, no games. He just goes for it. I don't know why he waited two years to ask out Mara but I can forgive since he got his girls in the end. Not only did he get the girl, he got a whole family.

Billy, a boy, and Billie, a girl, are the kids of Mara's cousin Bill who is so fucked up that he named both his kids Billy and Billie. No comment. Billie was absolutely adorable at only six years old. Billy in this was nine however I kept picturing him to be at least 14 years old when I reading because his life has been so fucked up, that he does not act like a 9 year old. My heart hurts that these kids, especially Billy, didn't really get a nice childhood. But their becoming family with Mitch and Mara completely makes up for it.

Tack appeared in this one! I was so excited to see him. I've missed him. Any time people mention him in any of the books in this series, my interest has peaked so high. I so badly want to know him intimately. I cannot wait for his story up next! Everyone seems to love the last book in the series so I'm going in with my hopes high, I can't help it! But based on some of the reviews I've read, I don't think I will be disappointed.

Wild Man (Dream Man #2) - Kristen Ashley

Wild Man was the second book in the Dream Man series and it was so much better than the first. SO MUCH BETTER! If you've read my review for the first book in the series then you would you know what my problems were with it.

Firstly, I loved Tess. She was a fantastic heroine. She's been through so much with her ex husband and my heart hurts so hard for her. She's sweet and compassionate, she's so loving and kind to everyone around even people she barely knows like Cob, Dade, Rex and Joel. She was honest, upfront and didn't play stupid ass games in her relationship with Brock. She wanted him and he wanted her, it was as simple as that and basically from the beginning their relationship was solid. There was no struggle to commit, no second guessing their relationship and being together and definitely not one of them chasing the other. It was so damn refreshing to read! And I almost forgot to mention the fact Tess owns her own bakery and makes awesome desserts. I wish she'd make me all the desserts that were mentioned throughout the book, they all sound so ridiculously delicious. And I love the way she was so enraptured and in love with Brock. It made my heart sings.

And it works both ways. The way Brock was with Tess, the way he loved her, held her, always touched her, spoke to her and how protective he was... Now that really made my heart sing and make me feel all gooey and mushy inside. He was also so... UNF. Enough said. And when he threw a chair against the wall, I fell totally and irrevocably in love with him. For those of you have read this, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about and why I fell in love with him.

He's dealt with a lot of bullshit in his life and when I say a lot of bullshit, I mean A LOT. With his dad, his sister, his old girlfriend, his ex girlfriend's older cousin and most of all, his pain in the ass ex wife.

I loved how we still had Elvira, Hawk, Gwen, Cam and Tracy mentioned in this book and we got to meet new characters like Vance, Martha, Elivira's friends, and Brock's huge and totally crazy dysfunctional yet loveable family.

Oh, and Mitch appeared towards the end. I totally can't wait to read about Mitch. Despite his apparent desire for Gwen in the first book which I despised, I really liked him and very much wanted to know more about him and have the chance to read his own happy ever after.

Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) - Kristen Ashley

Okay so.... I was very disappointed with this book. I desperately hope the rest of the books in this series will be much better.

I loved the hero, Cabe "Hawk" Delgado. Sure, he was stalkerish, deliriously controlling and bossy, but he was an hot, possessive, alpha male.

My biggest problem with the book was the heroine, Gwen. It's been a long time since I've read a book where I really resented the heroine so this one was the first one in a while. Gwen was so irritating. She's thirty three but the way she was acting, you would think she was an immature sixteen year old who is ruled by her hormones.

I mean, she had four guys who were in love with her and wanted her. FOUR! Under no circumstance does a romance book need to have four guys chasing after the heroine. And like her heroine said, she kinda was a slut. Like she's supposedly in love with Hawk yet she's kissing Tack when things go bad and then when she was actually supposed to be committed to the relationship with Hawk after all the drama, she was thinking how good of a kisser Tack is and she's wondering about whether Mitch is a cuddler.

I was rolling my eyes so hard throughout this book and I just wanted to finish reading it and go to the next one. That's another thing... This book was never ending. You'd think it's about to finish and then boom you turn the page and it's another chapter.

The only thing that saved this book was the fact Hawk had dimples. Yes, you read correctly... DIMPLES!

Forever and a Day (Lucky Harbor #6) - Jill Shalvis

So Forever and a Day is the sixth and final book in the Lucky Harbour series. I know, I want to cry too. I'm going to miss this series so much.

The last book of the series was Grace's and Josh's story who were mentioned a lot in the previous books. I absolutely loved finally getting to know Grace! I think that's what I was most looking forward to. She captured my curiosity is since Mallory and Ty's book.

Grace was so sweet, funny and compassionate. I giggled so much, especially when she lost Tank. And she's so compassionate and selfless as she doesn't hesitate to take care of Josh, someone who takes care of everyone else and puts their needs before his. She knew when he needed her without him even knowing it, she knew when he needed comfort, when he needed her to distract him from his fast paced life and she knew that even though she didn't plan to stay in Lucky Harbour, even though she was only there for a short period of time to just have some fun, she knew that this thing between them was much more than just sex.

Josh. Oh my gosh, Josh! He is a normal guy... A doctor who works really really really long hours, a brother to an trouble making handicapped sister who is very immature and seems to crave attention, a father to his motherless five year old son who wants to be a Jedi, wants his mother to come home, barks when he is sad and saddened by his father who isn't present that much in his life, Josh is the owner of a dog who is referred to as the Antichrist, and lastly he is a lover who believes he doesn't have a time for a relationship even though he so badly craves everything about Grace. I loved him so much. I'm going to miss reading about Josh. Jill Shalvis totally made me fall in love with him.

Now I can't decide who my favourite hero is or my favourite heroine, and I definitely cannot choose which book was my favourite of tho series. I just loved everything about this series and as I said above, I'm going to miss it terribly.

At Last (Lucky Harbor #5) - Jill Shalvis

At Last is the fifth book in the Lucky Harbour series and it was fantastic.

I loved Amy. She's led an extremely hard life. She's tough a hell, definitely not a pushover and the complete opposite of a doormat. I loved strength in heroines and I just don't men physical strength. Though she's tough and hasnt had an easy life, she pushed herself out it, became someone, found true friends in Lucky Harbour and even found love.

This is where Matt comes in. Matt is so incredibly UNF to the core. He is laid back, appears to be cool, calm and collected but really he is not. He's such a deep character who has had such a huge burden placed on his shoulders as he carried the blame for his failed old job and marriage. I loved getting to know Matt. He's so caring and his affection towards Amy is staggeringly beautiful and heart warming to read.

There were so many poignant moments in this book and it made it all the more bittersweet. Especially in the scenes with Amy's mother, Amy's past and memories plaguing her, Matt's past and especially with Riley. Riley was an interesting sub plot thrown into the story which was saddening but enjoyable to read about because Jill Shalvis writes in a way that her words makes her readers feel lots and lots of different emotions.

So the last book of the series I believe is up next and it is Josh and Grace's story. I'm looking forward to reading about that. We've seen Grace in the previous books but we haven't really gotten to know her at all. And Josh, we've heard lots about his job and his situation at home so I'm very interested to get to know Grace and Josh even more.

Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor #4) - Jill Shalvis

So this is the fourth book in the Lucky Harbour series and I was worried because I wonder how or if it could live up to the first three books with the hotness of the heroes; Jax, Ford and Sawyer. I should have known better. Jill Shalvis did not fail to deliver.

Ty, aka Mysterious Cute Guy who was mentioned a few times in the third book, was absolutely amazing. He was so damned swoony. He was a Navy SEAL, and as if they doesn’t already adequately represent his hotness, he’s tall, muscular, haunted by his personal demons in the past, protective and possessive, and just an all round alpha male. He is so the opposite of Mr. Wrong. He is so much more than Mr. Right. I think there should be a whole new title to sufficiently to describe how incredible he is. I want a Ty of my own. I think I speak for all the women in the universe when I say I think we all want a Ty for ourselves.

I loved the heroine, Mallory! She was so damn sweet and how passionate she was about saving people, helping them, healing them. She’s compassionate and intelligent. I’d love for her to be my nurse if I ever needed one. We also got to meet more of the characters in Lucky Harbour; Matt, Amy, Grace, Josh… It was so heart warming to read and get to know new characters which I know is the future heroes and heroines for the remaining books in the series I have yet to read.

This was a little predictable in the way that the premise of the book was two people having a fling, repeatedly saying it is only a one time thing or there is no commitment involved, when there really is, but both the hero and the heroine are fighting it because they don’t either don’t want themselves or the other person to get hurt, and then it all works out in the end because one of them have an epiphany and realise they need the other person in order to be happy in their life. So sure it was little predictable but I still swooned hard so I’m not complaining, because Jill Shalvis’ writing makes me feel all gooey inside and I love, love, love when an author has the power to do that with their words.

So, whose story is up next? I believe it is Amy and Matt’s story. This book has made me very curious about Amy and Matt, and what exactly is going on between them. I guess I’ll have read to find out!

Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor #3) - Jill Shalvis

Sawyer was UNF. He was so sweet and strong, so very vulnerable in many ways, he was protective, and so caring, not only for the heroine but everybody in Lucky Harbour. My heart broke for him throughout the scenes between Sawyer and his father.

We finally got to know the Wild Child of the three sisters, Chloe. The only sister out of the three who was raised by Phoebe and didn't know her father. I really enjoyed reading getting to know Chloe better. Though she appears immature and confident and care free, we really see a much deeper layer to Chloe which I really loved because we got to know her so much better.

As always, Jill Shalvis did not fail deliver. It was romantic with enough drama and conflict to keep the story interesting. I really do love Jill Shalvis' contemporary romances. They aren't overly cliché. Jill writes them in a way that the reader never has to roll their eyes as we tend to do a lot when contemporary romances are written way too cliché and predictable.

Now I need to mention what made me swoon most of all. I was very interested to see how the author was going to write the hero dealing with Chloe's asthmas problems and I imagined myself swooning like crazy... And swooning I did. Sawyer researched about how to deal with having a lover who is a bad asthmatic and he then proceeded to observe her breathing patterns whilst making love to her in order to make sure she is okay. And if that doesn't make you fall in love with Sawyer already... He purchased a nebuliser for his own home so Chloe could use it if need be whenever she was at his house... I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it.

Ladies, if you haven't already read, please do. By the end, you'll be longing for you very own Sawyer.

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor #2) - Jill Shalvis

The Sweetest Thing is the second book in the Lucky Harbour series and I loved it just as much as I loved the first book. This one was Tara and Ford's book.

Tara really grew on me once I had the chance to get to know her character more. She hasn't led an easy life, far from it actually. She and Ford have some important history. Ford... He was so damn amazing, so sweet, tender, strong, laid back and boy does that man have a mouth of him. Some of the things he whispered into Tara's ear... Whew! *fans self*

Like the first book, it was light, sweet, steamy and had the perfect amount of drama and angst to keep readers interested and engaged. There were more serious subject matters in this book and it was definitely more emotional, I think that may be because of the history and connection the hero and heroine have always shared.

Mia was a surprise I didn't expect at all which is another reason why to read this book, because it keeps it exciting. Now I won't tell you who Mia is or what role she plays in the story. I am wondering if we do ever or will ever get Mia and Carlos' story. I would enjoy reading that. But even if we don't, there were still enough cute moments between them that was woven as a small subplot in this book.

I actually liked Logan, which has never happened. Ever. Usually when a character comes in that could potentially destroy or complicate the relationship between the heroine and hero, I always want that character to be killed off. But in this case, it just added to the humour of the story. I guess because we got to see a lot of this in Tara's perspective, we see that there wasn't or ever has been competition between Logan and Ford.

I believe up next we have Chloe and Sawyer's book. God I can't wait to read that and I already have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about the way he might handle Chloe and her asthma.

Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor #1) - Jill Shalvis

Why haven't I read this series earlier?! If any of you haven't reading this series yet, start now. No, seriously, start reading right now. You will not regret it.

I am an awe. This was exactly what I needed. This book was romantic, sexy, humorous, there was drama, there was just the right amount of angst. Did I mention Jax is a total hottie who is buff and has tattoos? I really liked the heroine as well. Maddie is known as 'The Mouse' of the there sisters. She's a sweetheart and my heart breaks for her from what she had to endure in her last relationship but it was so heartwarming to see her find a sweet and tender man who is so in love with her and would never even dream of hurting her. Oh, look at me, I'm such a sap.

I seriously need to move to a little town like Lucky Harbour because it is just packed with hot guys, very hot guys. Although, as most small towns, everyone knows everyone's business so maybe instead of moving to Lucky Harbour, I'll just pass through and enjoy the view. *winks*

I like Jill Shalvis' style of writing. It flows, it's easy to read, easy to follow, it's engaging and written in a way that there aren't too many details and it isn't too descriptive.

To sum up my feelings about this book, I swooned and I swooned and I swooned. Enough said.

Can't wait to read Tara's story up next!

The Theory of Attraction - Delphine Dryden

This was a short read with humour and sex. Think of this book as Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory meets BDSM. But think of Ivan as an even hotter version of Sheldon without looking like a praying mantis. *giggles* Sorry, Sheldon, I still love you, though.

 

I loved Ivan. He is a professor who is socially inept and very much likes to have control in every aspect of his life... including the bedroom. He speaks really clinically, especially when he is dirty talking but it worked because of the character he is. He was also suprisingly sweet and tender, probably without him even realising it.

I really enjoyed Camilla as a character. She was very patient with Ivan and his obliviousness. I don't think I could ever be as patient with a man like him as she was. She was a very enjoyable character to read.

This book was highly enjoyable, well written and structured, a bit on the kinky side and I would definitely reccomend this to anyone who loves their men controlling, nerdy and utterly sexy.

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) - Kristen Ashley

I really loved this. Lexie was goofy and adorable and just so damn loving, I really enjoyed reading these kinds of qualities in a heroine. Now Ty was an asshole more than a few times to Lexie which made my heart clench but the way he reconciled it and the stuff he said made my heart swell. I didn't like when he called her 'mama' but that's just my personal opinion. On the other hand, I loved the times he called 'baby'. I always love it when any heroes I read, in any genre, in any scenario, when they call the heroine 'baby'.

I liked how this was more connected to the second book. We got to see more of our beloved characters from the previous books. And I loved all the new characters we met.

I thought this was the end of the Colorado Mountain series and then I found out there are three more books. Chase and Faye book will be released soon (OMG my heart), another book has two characters I haven't met and the last is Wood and Maggie's. I feel like I've hit the jackpot. Thanks Kristen Ashley!

I don't think anyone grasps how excited I am for Faye and Chase's book. You could guess my disappointment when I finished this book and nothing had happened. So you can now imagine how gleefully excited I was when I discovered they are getting their own book. Now, excuse me while I go squeal like a little girl.

I would just like the point out one scene, probably one of the best scenes out of everything I've read, that I think I will remember for quite some time. I wanted to sob after reading this. It's just so damn bittersweet.

“Your nightmare, mama, was my dream.”

My heart clenched.

He kept going. “Never had a home until you gave me one.”

My breath started sticking.

“Never had anyone give to me the way you gave to me.”

My breath stopped sticking and clogged.

“Never thought of findin’ a woman who I wanted to have my baby.”

Oh God.“Never had light in my life, never, not once, I lived wild but I didn’t burn bright until you shined your light on me.”

Oh God.“Whacked, fuckin’ insane, but, at night, you curled in front of me, didn’t mind I did that time that wasn’t mine ‘cause it meant I walked out to you.”

He had to stop. He had to.

He didn’t.

“Your nightmare,” he whispered, turned his head and against my neck he finished, “my dream.”

Then he kissed my neck, gave me one last squeeze of his long, strong, powerful arms then he let me go, shifted back, got to his feet and I heard his footsteps walking away.

Now if this scene doesn't convince you to read this novel, I honestly don't know what else would.

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) - Kristen Ashley

Okay so where should I start with this one? I know I enjoyed the hell out of reading it. It was a roller coaster ride but I'd pay to ride it again.

I'm not used to reading an heroine who is in her early 40's. In fact I've never read one. But since I only read heroines who are over age 20, I liked reading an older heroine. She certainly knows how to stand up for herself and she was no pushover which I absolutely love!

Tate is pretty stubborn, hard headed, pissed off a lot of the time and say mean shit that he doesn't mean but still hurts... But I still loved him. Hey, any man who is special enough to cure their woman's insomnia that she's had all her life is pretty damn special in my book. Seriously, he stayed up with her, held her, talked to her, tired her out so she could sleep... If you know what I mean.

Again, I didn't predict who the murderer was. So I'm either not the sharpest tool in the shed or KA really know how to write in a way that keeps a reader guessing and when the cat is let out of the bag, really knows how to shock her readers.

I loved Jonah, Shambles and Sunny, I even loved Wood, he was such a sweetheart, I felt sorry for him. Not surprisingly, I hated Neeta, with a vengeance. Anyone who reads this will feel the same way.

Now I'm really not sure how this is connected with the first book. It isn't really at all. We aren't even in Gnaw Bone anymore. It's set in a town close to it called Carnal. I think Nina was mentioned twice and Max was mentioned once.

Now the writing wasn't perfect and I thought there was way too many descriptions about the clothes, shoes, accessories and make up the heroine wears on different occasions but if you can push pass that then you'll enjoy this.

The Gamble (Colorado Mountain #1) - Kristen Ashley

I've had this series on my TBR shelves for a while and I have no idea why I waited so long to read! Now the heroes lack of pronouns killed my heart a little as lover of English but I pushed past that and enjoyed the story for what it is. There were so many surprises, twists and turns. I didn't at all find it predictable and I generally do when reading contemporary romance novels. This was my first Kristen Ashley book and I loved it.

It's so real and raw and gritty. I think those words sum it up nicely. I was surprised by the length of it actually. I haven't come across many contemporary romance novels that's longer in length. But hey, I'm not complaining. It meant I could savour it and have more to enjoy as I kept turning the pages. A page turner, that's another good way of explaining this novel. It keeps you turning the pages, begging you to just keep on reading.

This book had it all. There was mystery and suspense, lots and lots of drama and conflict, and not only the steamy relationship between the hero and heroine but the tenderness between them and the cuteness between the other couples like Mindy and Jeff. I loved the backstory woven throughout this as well. It kept us interested and engaged.

I loved all the characters we meet in the town of Gnaw Bone. Although word travels fast and there is basically no privacy but what else can you expect from small towns.

So, some people may be out of by Max's controlling and domineering ways but Nina is not push over, she's feisty and she's not afraid to bite back. Finally! A heroine who actually has a backbone and isn't afraid to step up to her man. I loved their relationship. And Max, he's protective and possessive... And he made me melt. Every single time he touched her or kissed her or even looked at her. He's a true alpha male and I loved every minute of it.

I only hope this author writes her other males similarly because I can't wait to devour those heroes.

Next up, I'm reading the next book in the series; Sweet Dreams.

The Undomestic Goddess - Sophie Kinsella

I enjoyed reading this. I laughed, I felt my eyes stinging with tears, I loved reading the self discovery of Samantha Sweeting. I could just kiss Nathaniel because of what a sweetheart he is. He is such a swoon worthy character.

One thing I didn't like was how she was so determined that she didn't want to be a lawyer anymore and she wanted to be a housekeeper but then as soon as Guy says a few words, she decides she wants to be a lawyer again and basically breaks Nathaniel's heart. But alas, it all worked out in the end. And that's all I ever wanted.

Sheltered - Charlotte Stein

Almost everyone has gone crazy loving this book. I enjoyed it, but I am definitely not crazy in love with it like many others seem to be which is kind of a let down.

I expected to swoon, my heart to beat fast and butterflies in my stomach, but I didn't really get any of that. I'm not sure if I went into this with my expectations too high or if I just wasn't in the mood or I merely just didn't connect with it. But I felt disappointed after reading this.

The best part about this book was Van. He is big and tough, dabbles in drugs, rides a motorcycle and not to mention... covered in tattoos and used to have a tongue piercing. But he was so damn sweet and tender. Just the way I, and probably billions of other women, like my men. Van cared for Evie so much. He fought for her, defended her, broke her out of her shell and introduced her to a lot of things in life we take for granted such as reading a magazine, watching movies with sex and/or violence, eating food that is in no way good for us and merely listening to any type of music we enjoy.

Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters, #1) - Cherise Sinclair

I wanted to write a proper review for this story. I did like it and I liked the fact that the whole story wasn't just about her thinking no one would want her because of her weight.

I didn't find the sex scenes enjoyable to read and found myself skipping those parts. Using the words 'labia' and 'clitoris' is just not a turn on.

I loved Logan, how mysterious he was but I really wanted the book to focus more on his character and the developing feelings between Logan and Rebecca, and not so much on the BDSM part.

There were a couple of things I didn't like so much, so do I regret reading this, you ask? Yes and no. Yes, because I liked the characters, even though I hated Matt and Ashley. And no, because I was left unsatisfied when I finished and that's the worst when reading a book.

Deadly Lies (Deadly #3) - Cynthia Eden

I do not want this series to end. I wish it were never ending and I could just keep reading about all the different FBI agents in the SSD.

I love Samantha. She's still trying to move past the unfortunate incident that sprang upon her in the first book. But she's damn strong, stronger than she gives herself credit for. Max certainly helped her grow as a character.

Ah, Max... What can I say about dear old, Max? He's flawed. He's sexy. He gave Sam exactly what she needed, when she needed it. He was jealous, in the good way. You know when the hero gets jealous and you realise just how passionate he is about the herione and then your stomach gets all fluttery and you get all swoony. Yeah, Max has that effect on me. I like that he wasn't part of the SSD as well. It was nice that it was a little different.

Like I said above, I am truly sad that this is the last book of the series but maybe if we cross our fingers tightly, the author will hopefully write a fourth novel.

Deadly Heat (Deadly #2) - Cynthia Eden

I knew it, I had a feeling who the killer was. The thing I like with this series so far is that the killers are not completely predictable because they come across so many suspects, it's up to you and your gut instinct to find out who you think it is.

I've found that the writing of the sex scenes have improved so much since the first book, you can really see that and I congratulate the author on that. It makes me all the more excited to read the third book in this series.

The gang reunited in this book. I was so excited, especially the fact that we got to see more of Monica and Luke again and how much they have grown in their relationship since the first novel.

Lora was awesome. She was headstrong and a determined character.

Kent... Ah, Kent. I liked his character in the first book and I fucking loved him in the second. He's laid back and he know what he wants and what he likes. He is protective and just so damn swoony. He knew from the beginning he had to have this girl. Even though their first encounter wasn't what you'd call romantic. *coughs* She punched him. I don't think this is the last we will see of him.

I can't wait to read the last and final novel in this triology.
