This was definitely more darker than the previous books and it was very emotional. There was the occurrence of much darker themes and subject matters in this book. Both Ken and Mari have lived through and survived hell from their pasts and that's one of the reasons why they are so perfect for each other. They are both fierce and lethal soldiers, and they are fighters and survivors.

They may not underestimate themselves when in the battle field or when in danger of losing their lives, but they underestimate themselves as they believe they are incapable of having a relationship.

I enjoyed Mari as a heroine. She may be tough and a total badsass, and completely capable of taking care of herself, she also has a softer side that we got to see when she was with Ken. I previously read a review of this book that stated that the reader didn't believe that Mari felt the same way that Ken felt for intensely for her. And I understand where that reader is coming from but then again, when you look at what Mari has been through. Confinement, abuse in a range of ways, her complete lack of freedom... I can understand why she battled whether she should join her sisters or fully commit to Ken and his need to execute his dominance.

I loved Ken. I love his intensity, his passion, even his need to be protective and possessive. He definitely needed someone like Mari who would not only take away some of his darkness and loneliness, but also challenge him and won't just take his shit and let him walk all over her.

There were so many loose ties in this book which will set up and create more drama and conflict for the next books in the series. I can't wait to read the next book!

I absolutely loved the fourth installment of the GW series. In the second book of this series, we met Jack Norton and he was described as fierce, lethal, completely devoid of emotion and essentially a killing machine. He's the epitome of an alpha male. But with the heroine, Briony... She made him feel. She brought out all these emotions within him and she gave him things he'd never expected to have in his life. The love of a woman and a (view spoiler)[family of his own, including his twin brother Ken and Jack's own unborn twin children. (hide spoiler)]

I loved how evident throughout this book was the fact that Jack loved and protected the two most important people in his life: Ken and Briony. I loved how different this one felt. It wasn't very scientific at all so it was very easy to understand what was going on. I didn't have a hard time following what was happening in this one.

There was steamy scenes *cough* particularly the one when they are hiding from the helicopters *cough*, there were angsty scenes, action scenes and, such sweet and tender scenes that made me swoon. Jack may be seen as emotionless, he may not be a man of many words and he definitely is gruff, but some of the stuff he said made me melt.

I really liked Briony as a heroine. She's loyal and she didn't fight her feelings for Jack as long as some of the heroines did in the previous books. I also loved the relationship she developed with Jack's twin brother. It was so endearing how they were almost like brother and sister which was evident in the way they teased each other.

(view spoiler)[I cannot believe Whitney is conducting breeding experiments. It makes me sick to my stomach but I should've probably seen it coming. He is a monster. I can't begin to even comprehend how Lily is feeling about all of this. She did love him without realising what he has been doing for all these years.

I cannot believe Briony is also a twin! I know her twin, Marigold or Mari, is still being treated and imprisoned as a lab rat and is under a breeding experimentation. I'm very excited to read her story. What Luther revealed in this book about a solider named Brett 'disciplining' her makes me feel sick. But it was also revealed that she is a fighter. Definitely can't wait to get to know her better. (hide spoiler)]

I can't wait for Ken's story next up. I so badly want to get inside his head. I'm so excited he is going to be paired up with Mari and I'm so looking forward to getting to know the both of them.

Night Game (GhostWalkers #3) - Christine Feehan

This is the third installment in the Ghostwalkers series and without a doubt my favourite so far. There is so much I can say about this book. There were so many sexy moments, swoony moments, emotional moments that made me want to cry at times, laugh at times, and smile at times.

I loved Raoul 'Gator' Fontenot. He completely captured my heart. I was enamoured by him. In the previous books, we see him as a smooth-talking charmer who is easy on the eyes, flirty, laid back and completely at ease. But he is so much deeper than that, there is so much more to him. We got to see that in this book. He's powerful, fierce, deadly. He keeps his darker side of him masked. But Flame saw a different side, as did we. He's a prime example of an alpha - protective, possessive, tender. Flame brought all that outside of him.

I loved that even though Flame every protective and possessive instinct out of him when it comes to her, he saw that how powerful and capable she is, he saw the warrior inside her and he treated her as a equal. It was evident in the role she played throughout the missions they completed in this book.

Flame was a lovely heroine. She may seem strong, powerful, confident and unselfconscious. Although she is capable, she experiences uncertainty and insecurity throughout this book. She's never had a family. She has been a lab rat her entire life, she's been indirectly monitored and observed. She's never really known happiness in her life. She fails to trust people which is totally understandable when you realise the life she's been forced to live.

My heart hurt towards the end. The betrayal she felt made my heart hurt but I couldn't fault Gator because he did what he had to do to ensure she wouldn't die, knowing he may potentially be sacrificing their relationship for her health. The end of this book was so incredibly beautiful. He loves her wholly, the changes in her physical appearance didn't matter to him one bit. Those of you who have read know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm being as vague as I can for those who have not read yet.

The conspiracies that were revealed in this created a whole lot of drama, mystery and suspense. This book completely turned the tables. I love this new potential twist. I understand why the title of each book has the word 'game' in it because it feels like the character's in this series are trapped in a game. A game that may have been orchestrated by a monster of a man. Or maybe it's another completely different monster? Who knows. This is where the mystery kicks in and us readers are now forced to keep reading to see what will unfold and be revealed in the future.

So excited for Kaden's story. I've always been interested in him since we met him in the first book. I can't wait to get inside his head. But next up is Jack Norton's book, who was described as deadly and lethal as can be. I'm definitely looking forward to his story.

So this is the second installment in the Ghostwalkers series and I enjoyed it maybe even more than the first as it was less confusing. I've become better acquainted with the world CF had built and also because the hero and heroine didn't use quite as many scientific terminology that Lily did in the first book. There were some parts that were still a bit hard to follow and I found myself confused at times but it was still enjoyable and didn't put me off.

I really loved Nico. He's portrayed as silent and deadly in the previous book and in the beginning of this book but we see a completely different side of him when he's in Dahlia's company. We got snippets about his past, we got to see his tender side when he realised how significant Dahlia's was becoming in his life and we got to see his protective and possessive side. A prime example of an alpha male. He's silent and fierce but we got to see how important the Ghostwalkers are to him and Lily as well.

Dahlia was an enjoyable heroine who is totally bad ass because of how powerful she is, but the ramifications of her powers were staggering and made me realise that I definitely would not want her power. My heart warmed at the thought of Nico being her anchor. There was so many sweet and tender scenes as well as steamy and hot scenes.

We were introduced to so many male characters that are actually Ghostwalkers who Dr. Whitney experienced on in the privacy of his own home. I'm curious how many people he actually experimented on and of whether they will all get their own stories told. I'm also curious to know if there are any Ghostwalkers females that exist outside of the 12 little girls he experimented on. I guess I'll have to keep reading to have my questions answered.

I'm hoping Jesse Calhoun will get his own book because he definitely caught my interest in this one and with the unfortunate condition he is left in because of what he suffered in this book, my interest has peaked even more. I'm also curious to know if any books in this series so far have a hero and heroine who are completely sure in their relationship and not have to worry about the other slipping through their fingers. Again, I guess I'll have to keep reading.

I've had this series on my to-read shelf for quite a long time now and I'm so happy that I've decided to start reading it.

The first book in a paranormal romance series can be confusing at times because it is the book where the author world builds. There was a lot of scientific terms because the heroine generally goes off on tangents when she's putting two and two together and trying to figure out the situation. It did get confusing and I often found myself reading what she is saying but not actually absorbing it. Still, I understood enough to know what's going on so it wasn't like I was lost by the time I finished reading. Thank goodness!

Lily is a very logical and cerebral but we did get to see her emotional side throughout this book. I enjoyed her as a heroine even though I couldn't always relate to her. I loved Ryland. I loved the fact we got to know about his past and his sweet relationship with his mother. I loved his relationship with his men and how loyal they all are to one another. I found their group dynamic hilarious so it added humour to the book. But when in danger, they are all very protective of each other and have each others backs.

The relationship between Lily and Ryland was heartwarming. It was love, lust, want, need, desire at first sight. Ryland was sure straight away in their relationship and how he felt about her. And although it look Lily a little longer to come in touch with her feelings for him, she eventually did and it made it all the more beautiful. The sex scenes were UNF, especially that kitchen scene, but their love for one another really shone through those scenes and it made it even more hotter.

I'm very curious about a lot of things. Especially about those young girls who were sent away. Will they be the future heroines in this series? I'm looking forward to finding out and I'm excited to read the next book in the series.

Shadow (New Species #9) - Laurann Dohner

I'm going to cry! I've loved this series so much and have become so invested into the world of New Species that I'm so sad that I have to wait until the next book is released which is probably next year sometime. I was so excited that there were nine books released so far but I devoured this series because I couldn't get enough.

The story between Shadow and Beauty was very emotional and beautiful. Finally we have a heroine who is something other than a human, she is a Gift of primate nature. I really enjoyed her character. She's stronger than given credit for, she's curious because of the sheltered life she's led, she's loyal and I was proud that she overcame her past and got a happy ending with a mate of her own. I loved Shadow! He's a total alpha male but he's warm and sweet. Despite any struggle or complications that arose, he was devoted to her, even if she didn't know it.

I like how the drama has been a bit different and it was in this one too. Beauty really proved that she isn't weak, she's a fighter. This one also made me curious about other characters. I want to know Kit's story. I know there is more to her than her tough exterior. I know she doesn't want to settle down but I almost wish that would happen for her. Leo... A New Species who has a tail! He needs his own book because I want to know what he can do with that tail of his.

We got to see a different side to Creek in this one and her desire to (view spoiler)[have a baby of her own makes me hope she finds herself a human mate. Maybe Trey? Or Shane? A member of the human task force or maybe a new human doctor at Medical? (hide spoiler)] Trey who is human and who we have gotten to know in the previous books had a scene where Shadow saw the longing in his eyes to have a mate of his own. I hope that means he will become involved with a New Species female. The possibilities are endless: he could mate with a Gift he rescues or he could mate with tough NS female and maybe become the first procreate.... The prospects are exciting.

Moon's book is up next. We meet him in Obsidian's book and he was warm, friendly, mellow and laidback. My heart broke for what had happened to him. I hope he can find himself again. I'm very curious to see who he will be mated with...

Obsidian (New Species #8) - Laurann Dohner

This was one even more different than the previous books. I'm so thankful for the differences. I don't enjoy reading recycled material.

Obsidian took the whole caveman thing to a whole new level. He's newly rescued and has been in a coma so he hasn't adjusted to the New Species life at Homeland whatsoever. My heart absolutely broke for him for what he had to endure while in captivity and when we find out the true nature of his relationship with his mate who was killed by the technicians at Merciless Industries.

This book was really focused on the hero, the heroine and their relationship. The hero because he hasn't adapted to life at Homeland because of the hero and his relationship with. The heroine because of her situation and the sacrifices she made for Obsidian. And their relationship and all the complications that arose because of it.

The climax and the drama of this was different from the previous books because (view spoiler)[there was no human hate groups or pregnancies or attempted rape or death scenes. Instead it was the separation between the hero and heroine that was the source of the drama. (hide spoiler)]

Shadow's book is up next and I'm very excited because the heroine is a Gift and all the heroines in the previous books have been humans. I'm sad though because it's the last book released so far and that means I'll have to wait for more books to be released.

Tiger (New Species #7) - Laurann Dohner

There was a completely different tone to this one and I absolutely loved it! It was such a breath of fresh air. It didn't follow the same formula to the previous books and that's is one of the reasons I loved reading this one.

Don't judge the heroine by the summary of the book. It makes Zandy sound like a slut to put it bluntly, but once you read it you realise that is not the case at all. I really loved Zandy. First of all, her unusual name is awesome and pretty. Secondly, she's sweet, caring and loyal. She was a lovely heroine to read and best all of, she didn't get on my nerves!

Tiger... what can I say about him? He is unf, to put it mildly. He is fierce, protective, possessive... a total alpha male. I couldn't stop smiling at the fact that he has spent the last seven books saying he would never take a human mate because of the dangers, yet here he is, falling in love with a human female without realising. Even though he adamantly said he would never mate because he enjoys his freedom to much, from the beginning he was sweet, tender, devoted, attentive and romantic. It was adorable to witness. Tiger would probably have to be my favourite New Species male.

The secondary characters were fantastic to read. I love Midnight, she deserves her own novella at least. Richard was hilarious! I love how much he spoke of his love for his wife even though he is human. It was nice to see. We got to meet Dr. Allison and learnt of her obsession about 880. They we are the heroine and hero in the book so I'm looking forward to reading about them.

And Vengeance... oh, my heart. I raged at his role in the previous book but I didn't hate him because I'm aware of his grief at the loss of his mate. It doesn't compensate for his actions in the last book or his action in the beginning of this book. But after his talk with Tiger, we got to see a deeper side of him. He needs his own book and he needs to human mate. One who is willing. I so badly want to get to know him deeper and get inside his head. He needs a happy ending after experiencing so much pain in this life, more so than the rest of the New Species because of his loss.

A mention needs to go to the human hate groups... they are a bunch of crazy ass nutcases. Seriously! But I like that the drama they caused was slightly different to the previous books. I also liked that outcome was different as a New Species (view spoiler)[got hurt instead which is something we haven't really had to experience so far. (hide spoiler)]

This book was definitely a favourite. Looking forward to see what the next book has in store for me.

I was hesitant to read this one because quite a few people had rated this low and I guess it just proved that I shouldn't feel influenced by others people's opinion, because I really enjoyed this.

I loved that the heroine was heavier and not stick thin. I loved that both the hero and heroine battled with their own insecurities and I love it because it shows me a vulnerable side of their characters and appeals to me emotionally.

The heroine and her best friend, Amanda, we're hilarious together. I desperately hope something does happen between Flame and Amanda. Flame deserves his own mate and Amanda is more than infatuated with him. I wonder if they will get their own book. I sure hope so.

Wrath was adorable and I wasn't expecting that. Every time he voiced or thought that he so badly wanted to be the best mate for Lauren and you could just see how badly he wanted it and how much he was trying... It was so sweet, heartwarming and completely swoon worthy.

I know the plot is formulaic and I'm really hoping that the next few books will have something different. And even though some of it was recycled material, I still enjoyed it.

Tiger has played quite large roles in some of the previous books so I'm very curious to see who he will be mated with and what their relationship will be like. I'm looking forward to driving into his book and getting to know him even better.

Brawn (New Species #5) - Laurann Dohner

This was one of those where the hero and heroine can't seem communicate with each other and their relationship is based on misunderstandings. It makes you just want to scream at them because you so badly want them to be together.

While I did enjoy this, what I mentioned above does damper my love for it. There were a few swoonworthy moments but I wanted their to be more romance. Like the relationships in the previous books, particularly Tammy and Valiant's relationship. They were adorable, especially Valiant.

I know Brawn and Becca were forced together in a less than desirable circumstance. I just wished they communicated more. The angst and drama that occurred made my chest tighten and my heart feel heavy. I just wanted them to be together and be happy. We got there eventually. All thanks to one particular New Species female...

Once again Breeze saves the day because that woman has the ability to set things straight, communicate her point clearly and her plans to fix relationships between the hero and heroine always work! I want her to have her own happy ever after. She deserves it. I would like to see her with a human male actually.

Cannot wait for the next book. I hope their relationship won't be based on miscommunication.

Justice (New Species #4) - Laurann Dohner

This one was so good. I so badly wanted Justice to get a chance to have his own mate since we met him in the first book.

Jessie is badass. She is underestimated, that's for sure. She can totally hold her own. She has a mouth on her and she refuses to be ordered around by anyone. She marches to beat of her own drum and I love that because I can completely relate to that.

I love Justice but I feel so sorry for him. He carries way too much weight on those shoulders of his. He has to since he's the leader of his race. But it made me sad when his responsibly to his people and their safety threatened his relationship with Jessie.

What I did love about this was that the angst and drama between the couple wasn't because of a misunderstanding. This couple actually communicated and anyone who is a romance reader knows that's a rare thing sometimes.

I also loved the fact that this wasn't focused around the hate groups run by humans and there wasn't as much violence in this which was such a breath of fresh air. This was more focused around the couple and the struggle they faced in their relationship with each other.

Special mention deserves to go to Breeze. She was so epically awesome in this one, that mastermind that she is. She totally deserves her own mate. I'm curious if she will get her own book and even if she doesn't, if she will get her own happy ever after as a secondary character? And more importantly, will she be mated with a human or her own species?

Too many questions! I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Valiant (New Species #3) - Laurann Dohner

I'm loving this series so much! I'm so grateful there are nine books currently released, the tenth one is coming soon (I'm assuming next year) and more will be released in the future. So exciting!

I liked Tammy. She wasn't afraid to speak up to Valiant which is sweet in a way and made me laugh because he is someone who is feared among his race. Well, he is gigantic, and he roars and growls a lot.

Valiant takes the caveman thing to a whole new level. He is humungous, he eats raw meat, he has a simple view of life. Throughout he repeated the words 'I belong to you and you belong to me' and the word 'mine' because he really believes it is as simple as that. He's actually so adorable though. He's fiercely protective, possessive and controlling. He's also a sex machine. That boy could just not get enough. Who thought that guy who everyone thinks is one scary mofo is actually sweet and thoughtful.

Sometimes I cringe at the violence in this and the reoccurring subject matter of rape. It makes my stomach turn. This wasn't as bad as the previous two were but even just the thought of what could of happened when the captured her was enough to make me nauseated.

I'm glad we got to meet Jessie and I'm very excited to read her story with Justice. That man deserves a mate and he needs to take some time out of his busy life to recieve the love of a woman of his own.

Slade (New Species #2) - Laurann Dohner

This was a rollercoaster of emotion. It was adventurous and action packed. It made my stomach turn because of an attempted rape scene so beware to those readers who are sensitive to that subject matter.

This story ripped my heart into tiny pieces, because of a misunderstanding between them and that lack of communication that one time created a whole lot of separation angst. This story also made me shout in excitment because the 'so called impossible' became possible. And finally it made me swoon.

I loved the heroine. Trisha is extremely smart and she has a big chest. Boobs and brains, my kind of girl! She's also sweet and kind, and also very misunderstood. Just because she had intelligence does not mean she is snobby. She has a big heart with a lot of love to share around.

Oh, Slade. He made me smile. He's a total alpha male. Protective, possessive yet so incredibly sweet. My kind of fantasy man.

I was jealous and felt betrayed by Brass. I just automatically hate anything that can potentially become between the relationship between the heroine and hero. But once the main couple become solid in their relationship, I came to like Brass (now that he no longer posed any threat) and I hope he gets his own happy ending.

I need to mention Valiant. How can I not? He's described as humongous and scary looking... But I fell in love with him as soon as he expressed his desire to have a mate of his own. So bloody adorable. I melted. I cannot wait to read his story and get inside his head!

Fury (New Species #1) - Laurann Dohner

After reading a paranormal romance that disappointed me and caused me to not even finish writing it, it was a breath of fresh air to read this. Firstly, there was actually plot. Hallelujah! While there were a lot of sex scenes, it didn't completely take over the story. Thank god! While I need to have sex scenes in novels when I read, I also need plot and world building. And this fit that criteria to a tee.

There was drama, conflict, sex and action. The hero was possessive, protective, risked his life to save her, he was tender and just a total alpha male. Some of the scenes made me melt and swoon. What more can a girl ask for?

I liked the heroine. She was compassionate, so incredibly tough, she loved Fury so much and she accepted him for what he is and the difference between their species from the start. She was possessive and I couldn't help but smile when she let that show.

This story kept me on my toes and I enjoyed reading it so much.

The last line of this was just absolutely perfect. It's just the most perfect lead in to Slade and Trisha's story.

“Slade had a mental image of Doc Trisha and her smile flashed through his thoughts “I’m undecided but who knows what the future holds.”

I'm so glad this series has a whole collection of novels. I'm so excited to read them all.

Breeding Cycle (The Kategan Alphas #1) - T.A. Grey

This was a DNF (did not finish) for me.

The writing style was very choppy and it grated on my nerves. There was too much sex and not enough plot. I stopped halfway so I don't know if whether the plot eventually kicks in or not, and I have no wish to find out.

There was no character development. While I didn't mind the heroine in the beginning, I could at least tolerate her while she and the hero spent time at the cabin, when she was back at the castle with her best friend, she completely changed and spoke like a teenager. What the hell, right? She's 22, not 13.

And I didn't connect with the hero at all. I read these kinds of books because I want to fall in love with heroes. But this hero didn't make me swoon.

I don't know if the series gets better but I don't think I will continue with this series

Enemy Mine (Alpha and Omega #2) - Aline Hunter

I've just devoured this series the last two days and I loved it. I liked Mary a lot. She's a survivor but she's sweet and it was great to see the confidence that grew within her and within her relationship with Emory.

Emory was an alpha, not doubt about that. But he wasn't overly controlling and he always put her feelings and opinions first before he made decisions instead of just making decisions about their future by himself. It was heartwarming.

I love the involvement of the secondary characters and the focus the reader gets to have on them. Diskant and Ava are so good together and I was so happy when Ava released her news.

Let me tell you something... The female vampires rock. They totally kick ass. Sadie is awesome. I love her and Trey. But Trey really fucked up and he definitely has some grovelling to do. I'm very interested to see how their new predicament works out. Very curious to see Trey's reaction. I won't say what's happened or else its a tiny spoiler.

My heart went out to Nathan when he was revealed his longing and yearning for a mate of his own. And when Leigh came into the picture, I knew it was destined to be, I desperately hope we get their own book soon. Leigh is one extremely powerful chick. We may got to see a small extent of how truly powerful she is in this book.

I really hope Kinsley gets his own book and a mate of his own as well. I would love to get to know him better. The fact he's Scottish... *swoon* I'm also very curious to see what will happen about the Caden and his new mission. And who the mystery girl is!

I can foresee many books being in this series and I hope I'm right. It's a shame Trey and Sadie's book isn't released yet because I'm desperate for more of this series.

Omega Mine (Alpha and Omega #1) - Aline Hunter

I haven't read paranormal romance in a while and reading this reminded my exactly why paranormal romance is my favourite genre.

I love my heroes when they are protective and possessive, they don't share their women and can't tolerate the mere thought of another man touching her, they are dangerous and bad ass, capable of great power, but they sweet, tender and affectionate to their women.

And the heroines are strong and bad ass in their own way, they aren't doormats, they are feisty and can hold their own when it comes to arguing with their men.

And the word 'mate' means so so so much more than the words 'girlfriend' or 'wife.'

Now this was a great book. I really enjoyed it. There were quite a few moments when I just wanted to melt in a pile goo between the hero and heroine. I loved the fact that after they accepted what happened between them, they were solid in their relationship and confident in their love for one another. I loved that. It's so refreshing from the usual misunderstandings that occurs in contemporary romance as a source of drama.

My only complaint is there were more sex scenes then there were dialogue between the hero and heroine. Authors need to find a way to balance that, because a lot of the time the most swooniest moments are when they aren't having sex.

I'm looking forward to reading Emory and Mary story next, I'm even more excited to read Trey and Sadie's story in third book!

Speechless - Kim Fielding

It feels so good to be reading again, enclosed in a world that is not my own.

This book was sweet, so sweet. It made my heart sing. Both Drew and Travis were adorable together. I just wished they hadn't spent that time a apart. And my biggest complaint is that it was too short. I wanted to read more about these two. Still, it was heartwarming to watch how they interacted and how Travis' eye or Drew inability to speak never came between them. They didn't let their differences stand in the way of their relationship, they loved each other, flaws and all.

Unravel Me - Kendall Ryan

When I read the summary to this, I thought this would be such an awesome story. After reading it, I realise it had the potential to be something much more, much greater, than what it was.

I was expecting it to a suspenseful romance, where we slowly unravel the pieces of the hero's past and the types of things that will unfold will ultimately serve as obstacles for the hero and heroine to triumph. I know it is only a short novella, but it fell flat to be honest.

I would have loved there to be more depth to the characters and more depth to the plot.

Lessons Learned - Sydney Logan

I've had this on my list to-read for ages and I'm not sure why I waited so long to read it.

It was a good read. It was definitely an emotional read. It felt like the heroine cried in every single chapter. Actually, I think she did. She was still likeable though.

The hero, Lucas... Well, he was perfect. Too perfect maybe. But sometimes it's nice to read a hero who is a little too good to be true. He was very swoony. I absolutely loved the fact they were pretty solid in their relationship throughout the book, even though there were a number of complications that threatened their relationship. What I loved even more is was the fact there was no stupid misunderstanding that caused and tension between the hero and heroine.

The subject matter of this book is still a contemporary controversial issue in today's society. As I am not a traditionalist and have been raised to realise that people are different and that's not a bad thing, and that you shouldn't ever have to conform to society's ideals in order to fit in. So naturally, my heart broke so hard for Matt and I can't even begin to comprehend what it would be like to love in a small town who is very religious and traditional.

The style of the writing was fantastic, I didn't spot any errors which is fantastic, and overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Star Crossed (Battered Hearts #2) - Kele Moon

I'm so glad I chose to read this series the past two days. This is the second book in the Battered Hearts series and I was pleasantly surprised to be it was much longer than the first.

This one was a rollarcoaster ride. There were just so many different things going on. So many different complications. I liked reading and getting to know Romeo and Jules. They are a highly emotional couple and I enjoyed the way their relationship developed and progressed. Romeo is a man who is not afraid to express his feelings and show his emotions, and I absolutely loved that about him. It was just so lovely to see, a hero so in touch with what he is feeling.

Though I love detailed sex scenes, there probably could have been less sex scenes in this and it still would have been good. It just felt like something happened and then a sex scene and then something happened and then another sex scene... You get my point.

Now Wyatt... He was a bit of a jerk in this. I mean, I enjoyed him in the first book. He was charming, and then in the second book, we saw a different side. A more vulnerable side of him. I think he is misunderstood which is why I really want to read his story next and get to know him.

Wyatt is fiercely protective of his sister and he is heartbroken and still devoted to someone who apparently left him. We don't really know much more about him and Tabitha besides that, so I'm very intrigued and I hope Tabitha doesn't turn out to be a bitch.

Defying the Odds (Battered Hearts #1) - Kele Moon

This was short and sweet. I really enjoyed it.

For someone as big, angry and intimidating as Clay, he sure as hell is a bucket of sweetness. He is an alpha male with a tender side, my favourite type of hero. When he gagged down the pumpkin pie she gave him because he didn't want to embarrass her by admitting he hates pumpkin pie, when he mopped the floor for her, fixed her truck, and all the times his protectiveness over her came out... *dreamy sigh*

Melody was very kind and she didn't deserve the way the people treated her in past, especially her husband. But she had me as soon as she said her dream was too open a women's shelter for abused women.

The secondary characters were interesting and I'm interested in getting to know them more. Especially the story with Wyatt and Tabitha, but up next is Jule's story with Romeo.

Hot Head (Head #1) - Damon Suede

So everyone here seemed to love this book and it did not disappoint.

This was the first GFY (Gay For You) I've ever read and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I wished this book had been longer. The first half of the book I so badly wanted to connect with Dante and then all of a sudden, I did. He showed a completely different side of him. An absolutely vulnerable, adorable, emotional side of him. It was so endearing to read. Griffin... I loved Griffin. There's not much more I can say about that.

There were so many questions I want answered like what will happen with their jobs at the fire house after they confront the boys? Will the boys eventually have a family like Griff imagined? Will their story continue or will the next book in this series star another two heroes? Will one of those heroes be Tommy? Because he deserves his own happiness, especially after what happened. I was so disgusted after reading that. Some people are so scum.

I have one last final thing to ask all of you readers... Have you ever read an m/m where the boys have a child? I'm dying to read one because the m/m's I've read so far all have one of the heroes fantasising about having a child with the other and just being a family... And it is at this point when my ovaries want to explode. So please, if you can recommend any to me, that'd be awesome!

One Dark Night - Jaid Black

This was suspenseful. I had three guesses who I believed was the killer and one of my guesses were right. It wasn't too predictable but if you give it a bit of thoughts, try to pick out little hints dropped here and there, amd add two and two together, you'll know who it was as well.

There was some sex in this but really I found the kitchen scene one to hottest. All the others were a bit of a mood killer as soon as Thomas referred to him as 'Daddy'. Yep, my lady boner deflated in an instant after that. It's the biggest hate I have when reading books. I'm surprised I didn't stop reading after that, but I did want to see who the killer turned out to be.

So I guess it wasn't the romance that kept me turning the pages, it my the suspense and my curiosity getting the better of me.

There were subject matters in this that may be very sensitive for some people so just be aware before reading.

Warrior's Cross - Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

I wish I had read Warrior's Cross before reading book 5 of the Cut and Run series. A lot more would have more sense had I done that. I guess I'm the future I'll need to read Armed and Dangerous again to enjoy and appreciate Julian and Cameron again and to see if I had missed anything.

Reading Warrior's Cross reaffirmed how much I love Cameron. Whoever thinks he is plain and unremarkable are so damn stupid because he is so wonderful. He's so gentle, caring and sweet. But he has this inner strength which is amazing. The thing I love about him is that he is not an alpha male. Weird, right, because I love alpha males. But when they are together, Julian is so alpha that you cant help but fall in love with how sweet Cameron really is. That's not to say Julian isn't sweet. Like an awesome alpha male, Julian has a tender side which has me smiling just thinking about it.

There was so much secrecy within this. If it weren't for the fact that we get to see glimpses into Julian's life, the reader would be just as left out of the loop as Cameron is. I can understand Julian's reasons for not wanting Cameron to be subjected to the ugliness and the danger of his lifestyle.

This wasn't overtly steamy but I didn't mind because of how much I love Cameron and Julian, especially Cameron. I can't say that enough, can I? I really did enjoy this. I thought the end was a bit abrupt and I really didn't want it to end because I felt like there could be more and their story wasn't finished yet. I guess it wasn't because we got to see them in Armed and Dangerous and still their story isn't over as they just picked up their cats from Ty and Zane's and settled down wherever they are at the moment.

I hope to see more of Julian and Cameron, hopefully in the Cut and Run series.

On Dublin Street - Samantha Young

So a lot of people have either loved or hated this book. I'm having mixed feelings. I don't quite know how I feel about it. I mean, I didn't hate but I didn't love it.

There were a few moments that attracted me like some of the stuff that Braden says. But overall I didn't fall head over heels in love with him like I usually do when reading. I didn't find him overtly swoonworthy which is what I want to do every time reading romance.

I didn't connect with Joss at all. I hated her name for one thing. Petty, I know. Still it irritated me. She was a hot mess. She hasn't led an easy life. Still, I didn't like her much as a heroine.

I loved Ellie, way more than the heroine. I connected with Ellie more than I did with Joss. Ellie was adorable, sweet, kind, funny. I would love if we could go to back into the past and read about her story with Adam from the beginning. Now that would be awesome.

I hate the dull and flat feeling I get when I finish reading some novels and I felt that with this. It wasn't like the series of books I read where once I finished, I was feeling happy, full of swoons and wishing I could read more. I didn't get that feeling with this.

You know what else I hate... When authors use misunderstandings between the hero and heroine to create angst. Ugh, can authors think of new sources of angst and drama. I found I didn't have to suffer through bullshit misunderstandings when reading m/m.

Stars & Stripes (Cut & Run #6) - Abigail Roux

So this is the last book in the series so far that's been released which makes me incredibly sad because I started reading the first book and tore through the rest at lightning speed.

This was my first m/m series and I'm so lucky to have had my cherry popped by Ty and Zane, hehe.

So the sixth book in this series was just as amazing as the rest. This boom truly had me in hysterics though. It was hilarious! Particularly the scene with Chester, his shovel and his big mouth. That old man may seem senile, but nothing much gets past him. Zane's father was so awesome. I loved him so much.

Unfortunately, the same thing cannot be said for his mother. I had thought Earl was bad but Beverley was an absolute bitch. Trying to make Zane choose between his family and Ty... pfft.

There was so many moments between Ty and Zane that were so damn sweet. Their love for one another and how strong it is makes me want to weep with happiness. They are so hot together, the scene on the couch with Ty wearing a Stetson... Well, you guys can put two and two together. *winks*

The way our boys were together in this book, the way they told their families and weren't so secretive about their feelings about each other and finally their interactions with Sadie, Zane incredibly adorable niece... It made my heart ache because I could see Zane and Ty getting married and having children together. Particularly, a little girl. I hope in the future we get to see that of them. I'm sure many readers like myself would absolutely positively love to see that. I guess only time will tell...

Can anybody tell me when the next book will be released? Because I'm already suffering from withdrawals...

Have I mentioned how much I love Ty and Zane? Wherever I can get my hands on them, whether it be a full length novel or a 10 page scene with them together, I am grateful to just be able to have more of them.

This was very very short and very sexy, might I add. A nice little scene if we're in the mood for some Ty and Zane lovin'!

Armed & Dangerous (Cut & Run #5) - Abigail Roux

Armed and Dangerous is about Ty and Zane being sent on a mission to deliver Julian Cross to DC and the only way to get him there was to also drag along his lover, Cameron. Now two gay couples, one man an assassin, the other his gentle sweet lover and the other two FBI agents whom we know in love, forced into a road trip in order to get to their destination... I just knew hilarity was going to ensue and boy was I right.

There was so many humorous moments. A lot of action considering our beloved boys are again trying to be killed. Julian and Cameron were so very sweet and such a contrast. Julian is the alpha male, I couldn't describe him better than that. But Cameron is so sweet, sensitive and kind hearted.

I'm aware that these two are actually characters from the book Warriors Cross which I have yet to read but after reading about them in this, I definitely want to get to know them better and find out about their relationship from the beginning.

Ty and Zane were just amazing, finally freely admitting to each other their love. You could see how far they have come since the first book. They are so much more confident within their relationship. The love scenes were so passionate and loving.... And hot! Damn, I have one scene in mind. All I'm saying is Zane could have a career in becoming a cowboy, that boy can ride.

I should really talk about Nick. I want to hate him. But like Zane, I can't. I still think Ty should not have said anything about liking. It because zi mean, really Zane didn't need to know it. But I guess I shoulsnt complain because that's the way Ty is. He is brutally honest, whether you want to hear the truth or not. Now Nick is a likeable guy but without him, we wouldn't have been subjected to some very important information about Ty's past.

I was so engrossed when Nick was retelling Zane about his and Ty's experience together in the past. So very saddening. It so very important because it was an another part of Ty's past that was revealed.

I just want to shake Ty and Zane and demand for them to be completely open about each others pasts. There are so many secrets or even just unrevealed information between them, but since there are to be still more books in the series, I guess everything will gradually be revealed.

I'm only fearful of one thing... When will the Bureau find out about their relationship and what will they do about it? I guess time will tell.

Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run #4) - Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

The title is so ridiculously accurate. I think I have whiplash from the amount of things that was serving as a division between their relationship. At least the title is fitting.

There was always something trying to get between with, whether it be work, sporting commitments, AA meetings and a whole lot of other stuff that caused these boys to not be able to see each other for days sometimes.

Then there was, as usual, someone trying to kill them, accidents that caused one of them to be blind, old friends coming between them, there was a whole lot of analysis about their feelings towards each other.

But like the title says, not only did so many things serve to divide them, but those boys, like we knew they could, conquered all the complications and came out stronger in the end.

There was so many sweet and tender moments, particularly the dancing scene. You know what I'm taking about. I'm swooning at just there mere thought. There was also so many hot moments! You'll be in for a ride when reading this one.

One more thing i think is worth mentioning.... Every time Zane calls Ty 'baby'! *shivers*

For anyone who hasn't read this, fair warning. Don't read this one unless you have the next book ready to be read! You will know what I'm taking about once you've read this!

Fish & Chips (Cut & Run #3) - Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

So this is the third book in the series and I didn't waste anytime reading it straight after the second one.

The opening scene was so awesome. Who knew two men who are lovers beating the shit out of each other is damn hot.

Now I knew as soon as I realised this on was going to be about Ty and Zane going undercover as two professional criminals who are gay and married that we were going to be in for some laughs. And I was totally right. I can't help but smile when thinking about Ty and his hair.

It was so good to see the boys once again back in action as undercover agents. There was so much humour, action, a bit more mystery and such sweetness in this one.

Because Ty and Zane were posing as a married gay couple, it meant they could touch and kiss each other in public without hesitation and it was so damn sweet. I could go on and on and on about just how sweet, and sexy, it was. I just wish they could do it all the time without fear of being discovered or fear of judgment for a persons chosen sexual orientation. The scene at the end when they held hands and Ty kissed Zane's fingers at the restaurant...

Every nuzzle, hug, touch, caress, kiss on lips, kiss on cheek, kiss on neck, kissing each others hands or fingers, and one of my favourites, kiss on chin.... Hnnng. Hnnng. Hnnng. Swoon. Swoon. Swoon.

And when Ty said 'I love you'... I so badly wanted Zane to say it back but then again, I also didn't because I want to read about Zane actually acknowledging what he is feeling and coming to terms with it. But the fact Zane decided to go to AA, I think my heart warmed at that part. It was so just meaningful because we know how much Zane has struggled with his addictions.

I so badly want to know more about both of their pasts because they both seem pretty tight lipped about it.

Sticks & Stones (Cut & Run #2) - Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

So this is the second book in the series and while it didn't have the mysterious and suspenseful aspect that the first one had. I still loved it because of Ty and Zane.

The two gentlemen have sucked me in. I just can't get enough of them. They are such realistic characters and it's one the things I loved about them.

This one didn't have as much sex, but that is because the circumstance they are in this one. I mean, they can't exactly go at it like rabbits if they were camping with Ty's brother Deuce and father Earl.

Ty's family is so dysfunctional, it's so entertaining. I thought Earl was an utter asshole by the way he spoke to Ty, and even Zane who he had just met. It was like whatever Ty does isn't enough in his father's eyes and it angered me so much, I just wanted to put Ty in my pocket and protect him from his father's harsh words.

I really liked Deuce and his psychoanalysing ways, or his shrink ways. I thought Mara was sweet but a strong women, I would like to read more about her. Hopefully I get that chance in future books in the series. Chester and his shovel is just epic, that is all.

I swear every time Ty and Zane nuzzled each other, yes you read correctly I said NUZZLED each other, I had butterflies.

Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) - Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

Beware, this review is going to contain mass rambling and babbling on my part.

All I've seen lately is everyone repeatedly talking about Ty and Zane, Zane and Ty, how much people love them, how funny they are, how hot they are... While I was sitting here thinking to myself 'who the hell is Ty and Zane? And why does everyone keep talking about them?'

When I finally realised which series they were from, I'll admit I was apprehensive about reading m/m. The only reason being because I had never in my life read m/m before. (Unless you count Blay and Qhuinn)

My apprehension was so not needed. I love love love Ty and Zane. I wish I could shout my love for these two very delicious men from the rooftops. I swooned, I melted and I had butterflies in my stomach from the scenes between these two men. The writing of this novel is so simple, realistic and tender. Any of the love scenes were written in no way tacky like many authors seem to write their love scenes. It was written so simplistically and might I add, so hotly. Rawr, baby, rawr.

I swear every time they kissed each others lips or each others necks, I died from the utter sweetness. It killed me, every single time. I found myself reading those parts multiple times because I wanted to prolong the sweet and tender moments between them.

When trying to figure out who the killer was, I guessed who it was but then I thought to myself 'no the authors wouldn't make him a killer because he keeps showing up and it's too obvious for that character to be the killer.' it turns out the authors chose the killer as the most obvious character so it turns out it was predictable and I was right from the beginning.

But let's not focus on that. Let's focus on the fact that Ty and Zane are the realist characters I've read in a very long time and they are so sweet and beautiful together and I can't wait to keep reading about them.

I'm starting Book 2 right now.

Measuring Up - Nyrae Dawn

It was the summary of this book that interested me and let me tell you, I really loved reading this!

Annabel is very easy to relate to. Sure she has bad self esteem because she's been pushed down by many people in her life and insulted because of her weight, but it was because of this that we as readers felt proud of her towards the end of the book. She finally realised she doesn't need people, she only needs herself to achieve and accomplish whatever she wants.

Teagan was beautiful. He's a broken hero which again is part of why I loved him. He may be moody and closed off some times but it's the times when he's smiling, happy, affectionate, encouraging, supportive, I could keep going, that makes him so damn sweet and swoon worthy. It was heartwarming to see the way he reacted to Annabel and how much he helped her learn to stand on her own two feet.

Now I don't know if this is a stand alone or if there are any plans for this to be a series but I would love love love to see Em have her own happily ever after. Maybe from that mysterious boy who was trying to get to know her...

Wrong Bed, Right Guy (Come Undone #1) - Katee Robert

I enjoyed reading this book. A lot of people were annoyed with the heroine which I can understand. She's been humiliated year ago by her ex boyfriend so she has trust issues and low self esteem. She is also such a snob. But the way the author wrote about Elle's snobbiness, I saw it as highly comical. She does redeem herself though.

Still, she definitely isn't on my list as a heroine I enjoyed reading. I didn't hate her though.

Let's talk about Gabe. Totally swoon worthy. He has tattoos, looks like a bad boy, but after reading his thoughts, he is a total sweetheart. He's done the whole player thing, now he wants a women he can wake up and got to bed with. See, adorable, right! And he seems so self assured, but Elle make him into this fumbling and stumbling fool because he can't predict her reaction. I'm thinking about the sage situation that happened in the book right now, hehe. Still an adorable alpha male as the hero? Gabe was a winner.

This book is the standard contemporary romance. You know, they start falling in love with each other and a misunderstanding causes them to break up... We've all read this kind of situation before, more than likely multiple times. It was still enjoyable nonetheless.

I assume the next book will be about Nathan and this so called mystery girl that was briefly mentioned a few times...

Ride with Me - Ruthie Knox

There is something so seductive about Tom who is described as a loner, as a hermit, as a recluse. I loved Tom. He may be quiet but he is also sexy, protective, possessive, demanding without being controlling.

The steamy scenes between Lexie and Tom were unbelievably sexy. Even if they were figting, it was still hot. Then there were incredibly tender scenes that made my heart melt. Everytime he looked at her, kissed her, touched her... so sweet and hot.

This was a fantastic read. If you're looking for something short, sweet, sexy and lighthearted to read to read, then this is for you.

Ghostwriter - Lissa Bryan

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of Lissa Bryan’s debut novel, Ghostwriter.

So this was the first time I’ve ever read a ghost novel and I can assure you it is a very different and interesting experience, and nothing like anything I have ever read before.

My heart broke a lot for Sara with the living conditions she had to endure and having to be surrounded with two people, her mother and ex boyfriend, who don’t deserve a place in her life.

It was so humorous to read about Sara trying to explain the ways of the world to someone who has been a ghost for nearly a century, who knows nothing whatsoever about technology and can’t wrap his mind around the changes for women that have taken place since the Women’s Movement. As someone who has always liked history and studied it throughout high school, it was a real treat to read this as there were a lot of historical references throughout this novel.

The writing is very descriptive but in a good way. The author does not go into too much detail about the clothing that the heroine is wearing for instance as some authors tend to do which can get annoying. This author writes descriptively when explaining the experience Seth had in the war for example. The use of Seth’s letters to reveal to the reader his background was absolutely fantastic. Very well done on the author’s behalf.

The love story developed naturally and beautifully, might I add. I continually asked myself how is this going to work, how is a human girl going to be able to make her relationship work with her ghost boyfriend. Well, I certainly couldn’t have predicated the outcome and I definitely didn’t see that coming, so it was an enjoyable surprise to be able to shocked at how it concluded.

A Thin, Dark Line - Emma Elliot

A Thin, Dark Line is the debut novel written by Emma Elliot… and let me tell you, this completely passed all expectations I had. My interests peaked when I read the summary and I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this. I am so incredibly glad I picked up this book!

When I read, I generally read because I want to swoon. And I did swoon. Cormac is very reserved, quiet, mysterious, the type of person to mostly only smile faintly. He is an extremely closed off person, I felt like we didn’t really get to know him. But I think that’s the point, since it was mentioned more than once by Eloise that she really didn’t know him all that well either yet she loved him nonetheless. Exactly like I loved him. A lot of this is because he has been in prison for the last fifteen years for homicide.

Aside from all this, he cares so much, especially about Eloise. Though this is told in Eloise’s perspective, you can feel as you read his growing attachment to her by the way he responds to her. It was such a heartwarming thing to read. He’s actually very shy which I found adorable. He’s a man of few words, but when he speaks, I could melt in a pile of goo on the basis of alone of some of the stuff he says to Eloise.

I enjoyed Eloise as a heroine. She’s the town’s librarian. She’s sweet, funny, and compassionate, she doesn’t hesitate to stick up for what she believes in and she likes to give some people a hard time which I found hilarious. You can see all of this through the way she didn’t hesitate to give Cormac, an ex criminal, a chance and doesn’t hold his past against him like the rest of the town does.

It was sweet how much she defended him to many of the townspeople. This book isn’t steamy but the scenes between Cormac and Eloise, whether they were fighting or kissing or even merely talking, are so electric and addictive. I didn’t want to stop reading about these two.

Now normally I read novels because I want romance and I want to swoon. Not only did this book have those elements… but the plot was amazing! I was hooked from the beginning all the way to the end. That doesn’t happen very often to me because usually I read mainly for the interactions between the hero and heroine. And just to prove to you how much I loved this book, there were hot kisses in this but there wasn’t any sex yet I could not put this book down. 

This novel had it all. I laughed, I swooned, I cried, I was shocked. I was stunned actually because usually I can guess quite early who is the killer but it wasn’t until it was revealed in the novel that I found out. It wasn’t predictable which is another reason why I loved it. 

I’m not going to lie, there were a few parts that were very difficult for me to read and I felt extremely nauseated. Those who have read the book and those who will eventually read this book will know exactly what parts I’m talking about. Yet, I see it this way… if this author can bring out that many emotions within me with just her words, then I declare Emma Elliot a winner.
